About Boarding

The School caters to approximately 230 boarders from Form 1 to Upper 6. These are both Weekly and Full Boarders. Arundel is currently the only ATS girls’ school in Harare that offers full boarding.

Boarders are integral to the Arundel community, providing diversity and added richness. Being a part of the Arundel boarding community helps the young ladies forge a lifelong sisterhood with an understanding of different cultural and personal perspectives.

There are four boarding houses: Kafue, Sabi, Shire and Angwa, which all house ladies from Form 1 to Upper 6.

This creates special “Big Sister- Little Sister” relationships, where the young ladies look out for each other and are always there for support and advice.

Each boarding house has a resident Matron who ensures that all the daily needs of the young ladies are met, as well as a resident House Mistress.

The House Mistresses are the first point of contact for boarder parents/guardians, and they develop a strong partnership, liaising about boarding life and academic and pastoral issues.

We also have a Head of Boarding who oversees everything regarding boarding life at Arundel, and parents/guardians are most welcome to book an appointment to discuss boarding life and their daughters/wards by emailing: boarding@arundel.ac.zw

Boarding Life

At Arundel, we ensure that all the young ladies in boarding are nurtured and supported within a safe and secure environment. Our boarders live happily in comfortable, modern facilities which are tastefully furnished.

Boarding Houses have spacious social areas or Common Rooms, where girls relax, socialise and bond. Everyday boarding life is filled with camaraderie and laughter, with time for seclusion and quiet when needed.

Fenella Cottage

Fenella Cottage was left in trust to the school by Mr T.B. Simpson, the original owner of Arundel Farm, after his death in 1989. The cottage is situated in Nyanga at the foot of Fenella Falls on the road to World’s View above Troutbeck.

It nestles in a small valley surrounded by forests. A short walk from the cottage takes one to a viewpoint overlooking Troutbeck Hotel and its lake. Adjacent to the Cottage, is Fenella Hall of Residence, which offers group accommodation for just over a hundred people.

This is ideal for students on their educational and sporting excursions as well as any groups for retreats, team building and recreational trips.

Arundel Parents Association (APA)

All parents and guardians of currently enrolled students are members of the Arundel Parents’ Association. They are expected to be involved in supporting all aspects of the life of the School.

The APA is led by a vibrant and committed body of parents who give their time and efforts to fundraise for projects that directly help or benefit the students.
